Compassion is an innate skill that lies within all of us. It is actually our natural state of being, but it is not easy to access. Many things can block or shut down the process of us acting compassionately. Often times we confuse what true-compassion is with something that is not compassion at all. Here is a hint...Chances are if you are feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, depleted, angry, or irritated, then you are not accessing or acting from a place of true-compassion. In my research I have discovered that every single one of us is capable of excavating our innate way of being and accessing compassion. It is a trained skill. It is a muscle, and it needs to be strengthened. But, just like all muscles, you need to go to the gym and train to get fit. Compassion works the same way. As we train, we get stronger, and we can sustain it and live our everyday lives from a place where we have an endless reservoir of energetic love and capacity to care. Compassion is an act of courage.
